Labeled on tag "Spain," this female doll is dressed in a traditional fabric costume. Ankle-length dress has yellow top trimmed in red rick rack and narrow black bias tape. Red fabric skirt of dress is pleated at waist.. Dress is trimmed at hem with one yellow band and one black band. Bronze-colored long lace mantilla affixed to head with cardboard form held with small metal staples. Inky black hair has three spit curls around face and is adorned with red ribbon rosette and yellow fabric flower. Painted face with prominent eye lashes, brown eyes, and small red lips. Male with German bisque head and arms and leather body. He has open blue glass eyes and an open mouth with teeth and painted features and original brown mohair wig. He has gusseted jointing at hips, knees. Leather is sewn to the shoulder/head material at the shoulder. The tag with the doll says:"Italy - Roman Compagna". The jacket and knickers are green velvet, vest and socks are cream flannel. The rust wool under vest is trimmed with yellow ribbon. The leather sandals are laced up the legs with maroon ribbon. He carries a leather pouch across his chest and wears a dark green felt hat trimmed with black ribbon and a black feather.

Female doll dressed in a Madeira costume. She has a German bisque head with open brown glass eyes and an open mouth. Her body is 5 piece papier mache and she has an original brown mohair wig styled into a bun in back and braids in front tied with ribbons. She wears a cream cotton blouse and petticoat under an intricately embroidered red flannel and tan flannel skirt trimmed with multi-colored chain stitch yarn embrodiery. The vest is trimmed with gold braid lacing and bule cotton edging. The grey wool shawl is trimmed with matching blue edging. She wears tan leather boots trimmed with red punched leather and a black funnel shaped hat trimmed with gold chainstitch and a lace back veil.

Female doll named "May Blossom", 18" in height, bisque head, blue glass eyes, open mouth with teeth showing, blonde hair, strung joints at elbows, wrists, top of legs and knees, defined fingers. Costume is ivory dress with lace at top of bodice waist, wrists and skirt. Under layer is apron in off white with rows of pleats and scalloped edge. This is a Kestner 162. This doll was a favorite of Augustine's. Named May Blossom, the doll was "saved from the fire" when the first Blithewold burned in 1906. Family friend, Estelle Clements, made beautiful clothes for the doll, a whole wardrobe of coats, hats, dresses, petticoats, even handkerchiefs, some of which are preserved as part of Blithe

Brown googly glass sleep eyes, painted face with closed mouth, light brown hair. Costume white silk dress with gold metallic trim, jewel decorations (sequins, glass beads, blue & turquoise colored beads). Tapestry jacket with fur and metallic trim, white slip & pantaloons. Painted black shoes. Large elaborate headpiece with trim as above.

Wagon -

A wooden toy cart, or wagon, painted red and colorfully hand decorated. There are two large wheels mounted in the middle of the sides and they are also colorfully painted with triangular patterns. Painted wooden sticks once formed a high decorative edge. Three sticks are missing. This is believed to be from Madeira; given to Augustine by Marjorie.

This is the bottom of a box made for an Effanbee doll. It is made of cardboard covered with paper advertising and messages for the owner. Inside the box is the cardboard head support for the doll. The doll that arrived in this box is not in the Blithewold collection. On the end of the box bottom is the Effanbee label in a heart and "an Effanbee Durable Doll". Outside the heart: THE DOLL WITH THE GOLDEN HEART. Stamped on the end is PINK / BROWN EYES / 8120. Also, 520 is written in pencil.
