This is one of a group of 62 tree labels in the archives which were at one time used on the grounds. This is 1 of 48 still existing yellow painted metal labels which were made for Blithewold, in the late 1940's or early 1950's at the direction of Donald Wyman, then Horticulturalist, at the Arnold Arboretum. He previously assisted Marjorie Lyon in identifying the trees on the property. Some of the labels remained until the late 1970's. All were removed in the 1980's when new labels were made. The labels, similar to ones used at Arnold Arboretum at the time, are lettered in black with the Latin name at the top and the common name at the bottom. There are two mounting slots at the top an

This is 1 of 10 off white painted metal labels hand lettered in black with the Latin name at the top and the common name at the bottom. The back of the label is unpainted. There are two mounting slots at the top. All show signs of wear from use on the grounds. This label reads: JUNIPERIS CHINENSIS/ CHINESE JUNIPER. This tree remains in the Collection at inventory date and is located

This is one of three handpainted labels for trees given to Marjorie Lyon by her friends and family on her 90th birthday. The labels are on masonite, painted bright yellow and lettered in black, with a mounting slot at the top and bottom. This label reads: DAVIDIA INVOLUNCRATA/ (DOVE TREE)/ GIVEN ON SEPT. 12 1973/ to MARJORIE LYON/ FOR HER 90" BIRTHDAY/ By her Family & Friends.
