Summary This book by Dion Clayton Calthrop, known primarily as an English artist and social historian, is a standard source found in the libraries of early 1900 home gardeners. It contains a monthly calendar of typical English garden features (to the extent that there is anything 'typical' about English gardens of the period) and short essays by Calthrop describing gardens in romaticized, emotion-laden terms. It is not a scientific treatise.
Physical Description This book is covered front and back with glazed green linen, as are the spine and back cover. The front cover and spine are decorated with an Art Deco border, printed in dark green. Author and title are printed in the same dark green on the front cover, and on the spine in gold lettering. There is a heavy stock book jacket. It too is decorated with a printed border in an Art Deco style on the front and spine.
