Object Name Bed, Four-poster

Description One of a pair of Dutch Marquetry twin size tester bedsteads. Each flat top tester stands on flared posts decorated with floral vines. The side panels and head and foot boards are decorated with ovals enclosing flower filled urns, birds and cornucopias. Bedsteads are mounted on metal wheels.

This piece of furniture is included in the Blithewold wooden album (circa 1915) in the following description:"Twin beds, highboy, dressing table, couch, bureau, desk, storied [?] table and cheval glass. Dutch eighteenth century. Mahogany with inlay of foliated designs in colored woods. Old Blithewold."
