Description of Contents |
This book's title is taken from a line in a Shakespeare sonnet, "The Blossom." The author's colored illustrations of "wayside" flowers as she describes them, with each illustrated page having a facing page inscribed with a poem, sonnet, or essay fragment, is sentimental in tone. Illustrations have a certain charm but they are not really artful. Blithewold's Marjorie Lyon was a watercolorist. There are numerous examples of her work in the Mansion and the Archives. Nothing definitive about the author could easily be discovered. |
