Young deciduous trees around the house. House has a mansard roof, chimney,and a flagpole above the entrance. The Club House has covered verandas on the north,south and west sides. Postcard has handwriting on the side margin of the photo:"Golf Club House Bristol, R.I." The photo was used on page 59 of "Blithewold" by Alice DeWolf Pardee. Sepia. 5.50W x 3.50"H. Good condition. 01.02Postcard of photo of Golf Clubhouse, looking west. No date, but photo appears to be taken later than photo 01.01. An American flag is flying from the flagpole. Sepia. Postcard has handwriting on the bottom of the photo:"Golf Club Bristol,R.I." Sepia. 5.50"W x 3.50"H. Good condition. Old number:76.1252. 02 Large group of people gathered on the west veranda of the Golf Club, during a Fourth of July celebration. 1927. Most people are sitting either on the lawn, near the porch, or on the edge of the porch. The women are dressed in light colored dresses, most with hats. The men are wearing long trousers and sport coats. Stamped on back of photo:"July 4 1927." Sepia. 5.50"W x3.25"H. Good condition. Old number:76.1251. 03Many people sitting at a long table on the west veranda of the Golf Club, for a Fourth of July celebration. 1928. Waiters, dressed in white jackets and dark pants, are serving the seated guests. There is a small group of people sitting on the lawn at the edge of the porch. Written on the back of the photo:"Blithewold Clubhouse." Stamped on the back:"July 4 1928." Sepia. 5.50"W x 3.50"H. Good condition. 04 Copy, on copy paper. Close-up of people sitting at a long table at a Fourth of July celebration. 1928. All are wearing festive hats. Many bottles line the table. Black and white. 6.00"W x 3.75"H. Good condition. 05Photo of a mural or hanging, of a (humorous) golfing scene, that was possibly hung in the Golf Club. No Date. Mural shows five arched openings with supporting pillars with the letters S,B,H,and S between them. Garland around all sides of the scene. Eight men are in the mural, dressed in shirts and long pants. Some men are smoking. A stuffed owl is perched in the garland at the top of the hanging. Sepia. 9.50"W x 5.25"H. Good condition. 06Transcript, on copy paper, of an article from the Bristol Phoenix, dated Tuesday June 22, 1897. Article describes the opening of the Golf Club at Blithewold. |
