Crane is moving some wood for the pier. Sepia. 2.50"W x 3"H. Good condition. 02Two men moving a boulder for breakwater. 1895 Men on beach are wielding long poles in an attempt to move a boulder. Black and white. 3"W x 2"H. Old number 76.944. Good condition. 03Three men using long poles to extricate rock from the Bay for the breakwater. 1895 Another man is on the left in the photo, working on a smaller rock. The men are dressed in long pants, long sleeved shirts, boots and hats. Written on back of photo:"Constructing the breakwater." Black and white. 4.50"W x 2.75"H. Old number:76.1148. Good condition. 04Men with a horse moving boulder for breakwater. 1895. Several men either tending to the white horse or wielding long poles and working on moving the boulder. Black and white. 4.50"W x 2.75"H. Old number:76.1226. Good condition. 05Two men using a pulley to move a boulder for the breakwater. 1895. The men are dressed in long sleeved shirts, long pants, and hats. They are standing on the stone breakwater, guiding the boulder into place. Sepia. 3.75"W x 4.50"H. Good condition. Old number:76.1227. Back of photo shows evidence of being taken from an album. 06Flagpole and fish hawk nest at west end of property. c1900. Flagpole is bare, a bird is standing on the nest. Narragansett Bay is in the background. "Building breakwater" is written in pencil on the back of the photo. Black and white. 3.25"W x 2.25"H. Good condition. Old number:76.1233. 07.02 Similar to 07.01, photo taken in a different direction. 1895. Same size as photo 07.01 Photo is in good condition, pencil marks in the border. 08Blithewold from water, showing dock. 1898. Written on back of photo:"Blithewold from water." Flagpole is bare. Deciduous trees are leafed out. Black and white. 4.75"W x 3.75"H. Good condition. 09Photograph of boathouse, Blithewold house in background. 1910. Swimming ropes are evident in front of bath houses. Photo was used on page 51 of "Blithewold" by Alice DeWolf Pardee. Black and white. 6.50"W x 4.25"H. Fair condition. Black mark on right front of the photo. Old number:76.721. 10 Pump house is reflected in calm waters. c1910. Written on back of photo:"Pump house & wall." Stone wall is in the foreground, to the right of the Pump house. Photo appears to have been taken from an album. Photo was used on page 47 of "Blithewold" by Alice DeWolf Pardee. Black and white. 2"W x 3.50"H. Good condition. Old number:76.1229. 11a "Sais" (launch used for larger boat) and beach area. 1910. Pier is on right. Flag on flagpole is not fluttering. Blithewold is in the background. Boat and pier are reflected in the calm water. Black and white. 3.50"W x 3.50"H. Good condition. Old number:76.771. 11b Copy of 11a. Written on back of photo:"Blithewold waterfront 1910." Same size as 11a. Fair condition. Left side of photo is ripped. It appears that the photo was removed from an album. 12a "Sais", the McKee launch, with Bath houses and pump house in foreground. c1910. American flag is flying from the flagpole as well as on the stern of the launch. Blithewold is in the background. Stonewall and breakwater are in the photo. Calm waters. Launch and trees are reflected in the water. A corner of the pier is in the foreground. Striped side curtains are installed on the launch. Written on the back of the photo:"Taking up the end of the pier." Stamped on back also:"May 5, 1934." There is a man watching from below. Wooden ladder attached to wood piling on left in the photo. Sepia.5.75"W x3.25"H. Good condition. Old number:76.1997. 14Pile of rubble near the shore of the Bay following 1938 hurricane. Bay is in background. Bare vertical sticks among the rubble. These probably were leafed deciduous trees before the storm. Black and white. 2.75"W x 4.50"H. Good condition. Old number:76.1232. 15Shoreline following the 1938 hurricane. Appears to be what is remaining of the pier following the storm. Pilings are shown without any other part of the structure. Black and white. 5.25"W x3.50"H. Fair condition. Somewhat blurry. 16Modern pier with white painted railings. No date. There is a runner on the floor of the pier. Seagull is sitting on the railing. The Bay is quite calm.
