This section of pages from the Blithewold Wooden Album describes the furnishings and accessories in the Loggia and includes one photograph. Each page is described below. The text pages are transcribed exactly as they are written. The objects which remain in the room and have been catalogued are identified by number in parentheses. The photographs are described by the cataloger. 063b:Loggia 064a:Vase of Chinese porcelain late Ming early seventeenth century decoration of blue flowers under glaze. Teakwood stand. Vase Japanese Imari decoration of stripes of colored ornamentation interrupted by panels showing figures. Tiles from Naples. [Have been replaced.] Lanterns Chinese of painted glass. [Still hanging.] Chairs teak wood. Modern [Modern written in subsequently, still calligraphy, but different ink.] (1976.1.4725a, now in Telephone Room) 064b:Photograph of the Loggia looking towards the Billiard Room. The Imari vase described is at the left of the door, a teak chair to the right. [This chair now in Telephone Room.] The low table is no longer in the Collection. The tiles have been replaced, but some remain in the Collection. The Chinese lanterns described hang from the ceiling. Trees are seen in the background towards the water. This photograph was used in the Town & Country article about Blithewold published February 1910. 065a: blank |
