This a folder of the five photographs that were published in Town & Country, February 5, 1910. 1976.1.P042.04a: This is page 11, removed from an original Town & Country magazine dated February 5, 1910. It shows the Living Room looking northeast with the fireplace to the right with a bear rug in front of it. The caption reads:"THE LIVING-ROOM/Showing a chimney piece designed by Inigo Jones and brought from the residence of the Duke of Cambridge, Piccadilly." The verso has portions of the two pictures on p. 12 of the article. There is an original photo of this view in the Wooden Album (1976.1.P043.066b) 1976.1.P042.04b: Original photo of the First Floor Hall looking north. This photo appeared on page 12, top, of the article with the caption: ENTRANCE HALL AND MAIN CORRIDOR/ Illustrating the spaciousness of the interior of the house and the harmony of the whole." On the verso are scraps of black, indicating it was removed from the scrapbook, and the number "30". This photograph is identical to 1976.1.P039.06.03 (Blithewold II Interiors) and 1976.1.P043.046b (Wooden Album). Condition is fair (faded). 1976.1.P042.04c: Original photograph of the Master Bedroom looking East. This photo appeared on page 12, bottom, of the article with the caption:"EFFECTIVE BEDROOM/ The owner's chamber, showing a interesting treatment of the walls and windows." The verso has remnants of the black scrapbook page and the pencilled number "29". There is also some illegible writing at the top of the photo. This photograph is identical to 1976.1.P043.94a (Wooden Album). Condition: good. 1976.1.P042.04d: Original photograph of the Loggia looking north from the Breakfast Porch. This photo appeared on page 13, top, of the article with the caption:"DETAIL OF THE WESTERN FRONT/ Main floor of a double-storied loggia which occupies the central facade and was suggested by a portion of Cranbourne Manor." The verso shows remnants of the black scrapbook page and show the number "33" in pencil. This photograph is identical to 1976.1.P039.04.02 (Blithewold II Interiors) and 1976.1.P043.064b (Wooden Album). Condition: good. 1976.1.P042.04e: Original photo of the eastern face of the house showing the circle and gravel path in front. This photo appeared on page 13, bottom, of the article with the caption:"THE EASTERN FRONT / This portion of the house faces the road, though somewhat removed from it, and is approached through a gateway and avenue." The verso shows remnants of the black scrapbook page and has "front entrance" written in script along the top. This photograph is identical to 1976.1.P043.008b (Wooden Album). Condition: good. |
