This section of pages from the Blithewold Wooden Album describes the furnishings and accessories in the Billiard Room and includes one photograph. Each page is described below. The text pages are transcribed exactly as they are written. The objects which remain in the room and have been catalogued are identified by number in parentheses. The photographs are described by the cataloger. 083b: Billiard Room 084a: Billiard table. New. (1976.1.4673) Inserted in the masonry of the fire-place is the stone on which is carved the name Blithewold. This stone occupied a corresponding position in the living-room fireplace of Old Blithewold. 084b: Photograph of Billiard Room looking towards the fireplace. The billiard table is prominent at left with the two existing hanging lamps over it. There are three chairs on the right in front of the windows. One chair is on the wall to the right of the door. On the mantel is seen a large, two handled vase in the center, a large round stein on the right. On the windowsill sits a duck with another stein and some unidentified objects. (The duck ,1976.1.4723, is in the Telephone Room.) There is a mounted stuffed animal head above the door to the Loggia. There are drapes on a rod across the hall doorway and a rug cut to encircle the billiard table. 085a: Stuffed birds and trophies of the hunt shot by Mr. van Wickle. Various steins which belonged also to him. Andirons and fire irons French eighteenth century. Prints from Old Blithewold. |
