Old # 76.1636 04.01 William McKee, Augustine, Bessie, Marjorie, and George Clarke. The three women wear hats and white dresses with black bows at the neck; they all carry a dark color umbrella. The two men wear suits and ties; William McKee wears a white hat and George Clark a dark hat. They sailed on the German ship Victoria Luise in March 1912 to visit their cousin George Van Wickle in Puerto Rico. Spring. Sepia, 5 1/2" W x 3 1/4" L. Fair condition. Slightly faded. Sepia, 4 1/4" W x 3" L. Fair condition. Some fading. 14 Augustine in Charlottesville, VA in April 1918. She wears a coat with a fur collar and poses in front of a fence covered with advertisements for Pepsi Cola and local businesses. Spring. Black and white, 5 1/2" W x 3 1/4" L. Fair condition. Sepia, 2 1/2" W x 3 1/2" L. Good condition. Old # 76.1649 16Quincy Adams Shaw c1918, wearing a jacket, vest, white shirt, and tie. He was the only son of Quincy Adams Shaw, Sr. He was also the grand-nephew of Robert Gould Shaw (Civil War hero) and future husband of Augustine. He was already Augustine's favored escort during the season 1916-17. The Boston Post reported "Miss Van Wickle was one of the best liked girls in her class, and the admiration and preference expressed for her by one of her cavaliers, the only son of a prominent and representative Boston family, shows no signs of diminishing now that she is a full-fledged debutante." Quincy Adams Shaw and Augustine Van Wickle married in 1919 after he graduated from Harvard. Sepia tone, 3 1/2" W x 5 1/4" L. Good condition. 17Photograph of the back of Augustine in her wedding dress and veil posing on the Blithewold terrace. According to Estelle's diary entry of July 25, 1919, after Augustine's June 24 wedding "Marjorie took Kodak of Augustine in her wedding dress." Summer. Black and white, 2" W x 2 3/4" L.
