Photo:good condition. Mat:fair condition. Foxing. 02 Closeup black and white view of burnt ruins. Some shrubbery remains around foundation. Three tall chimneys are visible. Original photo mounted on cream cardboard. Stamped on bottom right of mat:"Anderstrom" Photo:9.50"W x7.50"H. With mat:15"W x 12.50"H. Photo is in good condition. Mat:fair condition. Stained. 03a Black and white view of ruins looking towards the Bay. The East Facade circle is intact with some greenery. June 4, 1906 06Newspaper clipping, "FINE SUMMER HOME GOES UP IN FLAMES / (By Publishers Press Association) / Bristol R.I., June 5.--Blithewold, the Terry (sic) Hill summer home of Mr. and Mrs. William L. McKee, of Boston, the finest in town and worth about $100,000, was destroyed by fire yesterday... It is known as the Van Wickle estate…" High resolution copy. Includes items of silver, china, dinnerware, glassware, linens, coal, refrigerators, 60 tons of coal, packed trunks, and all third-floor furnishings. Also lost were personal items belonging to the McKee's, Estelle Clements, and the Household Help which included Margaret Coogan-Laundress, Marie From-Cook, Mary McCaffrey-Parlormaid, Edward Ellis-Butler, Katrina, Mabel Fader-Kitchenmaid. |
