Description |
This is one of eighteen white porcelain dessert plates with scalloped rims. In the center of the plate is a bouquet of pink flowers with green leaves which is surrounded by a pink cross-hatched border and gold inner border and outer border. There are eight violet cartouches with green leaf garlands within. The top of each cartouche has pink flowers and leaves within a smaller gold bordered cartouche. The outer rim has a pink cross-hatched border interspersed with decorative cartouches. There is an outer scalloped rim striped with gold. The plates were made by Copelands China in England for the London luxury retailer T. Goode & Co. They are all marked with the pattern number C1371 which is followed by either a /6 or a cross-hatched Z. They were made sometime after the mid-19th century when Spode permitted retailers to add their name to the makers mark. |
