Description |
This is a shaker type box, which Sotheby's described as made of deer horn. The top of the box is applied with a print of three women in robes under a tree. One has a naked child in her lap. One has a goblet in her hand and the third looks off in the distance. Sotheby's describes these as the three Mary's, one holding Jesus. The bases of the bottom and top are covered inside with a green and orange patterned paper. A black and white etching of two children with a dog in front of a cottage is adhered over the paper on the inside of the top base. |
