Description |
This large circular platter is part of a dessert set consisting of 21 pieces including a punch bowl, this serving platter, and 19 dessert plates. The set was purchased from T. Goode & Co, London and made by Spode Copeland China of England. The pattern name is unknown. The platter has a white background with a narrow gold rim, and another narrow gold band defining the bottom of the floral design. A blue and green floral design covers the rim of the platter. The flowers are similar to blue iris or cornflowers. Josiah Spode I established his own company in 1776, was known for developing an underglaze transfer printing process and producing the first "Willow" pattern. Thomas Goode Co are purveyors of luxury china, silver settings, and glassware. Est in 1827, they hold two royal warrants, are famous worldwide and continue in business to this day. |
