Description |
This is a Revelation expandable suitcase as portrayed in vintage advertisements from 1926. The body is tan leather with reinforced leather corners and a leather front handle. The inside is covered in a tan, yellow, black and white plaid linen fabric. There are two side pockets and a folding compartment attached to the top. Two leather straps are attached to the bottom for holding clothes. McK (McKee) Boston is under the front handle and stamped on the right end. There are numerous stamps: right side: partial US Customs stamp; front "STATEROOM 606", SVENSKA AMERIKA LINE, "N" in a small block; left side: TOURIST [SAL identification ticket] Ship-Gripsholm/ Passenger name - Gerda T. Swanson/ Address in USA - 209 Newton St/ Brookline/ Mass/ US/ Sailing date - 30 Juli/ Room No 477. [This was Marjorie Lyon's address. It may have been a servant who borrowed the suitcase.] Inside the suitcase is a tag explaining how the Relevation expands. The Relevation Suitcase Co. was started in London in 1923 and still exists. According to 1926 ads, it had locations in London, Paris, Dublin, Montreal and New York. |
