This World War I patch is part of a collection of 56 military patches. This patch represents George Lyon's division. The patch has the insignia of the "Eighty-first (Wildcat) Division N.C., S.C., Fla., and P.R. Troops." This circular patch features a cutout of Army green wool fabric sewn onto red wool fabric to create the red silhouette of a wildcat. The newspaper clipping (b) features a copy of a World War I patch - "81st Wildcat Division patch dates back to 1918 and originated system of shoulder sleeve identification." This insignia was that of the "Eighty-first (Wildcat) Division N.C., S.C., Fla., and P.R. Troops." This patch features the silhouette of a wildcat within a circle. " G. A. Lyon's Division" (Geroge Armstrong) is handwritten by Marjorie Lyon at the bottom of the clipping.
