Blue silk net on malines with mauve shaded roses. High crown, narrow rolled up brim, flowers all over. Maker's mark: Fox /10 East 57th St / New York Bessie can be seen wearing this hat in a 1924 archival photo 1976.1.P048.02.01 Newspaper article about Augustine's wedding to Quincy Shaw mentioning this hat and possibly 2012.1.0131 dress. Mystery could be solved if we can find pictures of Augustine's 1919 wedding. Margaret has written to Peter Jeffries to ask if he has contact with any of Dee's children. Marge Jeffries said Dee took most of Augustine's pictures etc. "Mrs. McKee, the brides' mother, wore orchid pink satin with drapery of white lace, the overdress of hydrangea blue Georgette emroidered in pink beads. The small hat was of blue straw covered with small pink roses to match the coloring of the gown." See Newspaper article in Newspaper Clippings A-053. |
