Description |
Watercolor painting titled "Vermont Birches" by Marjorie Van Wickle Lyon. Painting depicts a landscape in the fall with birch trees in the foreground and a background of fall foliage. Colors are blue, yellow, orange and green. Painting was exhibited at the Copley Society of Boston, 1963. As a child Marjorie took painting lessons one summer with Mrs. Lulu Pratt, and another with Hannah Drury, both of Bristol. One of her earliest watercolors was done in 1897 when she was 13. Another watercolor dates to around 1900 when she was 16 years old. Marjorie's love of painting blossomed in her late 60's after her husband, George Lyon, died. |
