This bowl is part of a 37 piece set including a teapot, creamer and sugar bowl, two plates, a small tray, 12 tea bowls, 12 saucers and 6 demitasse cups. All pieces are white porcelain with swirl-molded body decorated with gold and cobalt blue. The bowl has a blue and gold brush stroke pattern around the top inside. There is a round blue and gold design on the floor of the bowl surrounded by gold leaves. On the outside, there are gold stripes at the base and the rim and a central gold stripe with leaves. There is no makers mark on the verso of the pieces, simply a pattern number 151 and sometimes what may be an artist's mark. The maker has been variously identified as Coalport or Castleford. |
