Description |
Watercolor painting titled "Vermont Scene" by Marjorie Van Wickle Lyon. Painting depicts a fall landscape of a river or small lake with a walking path along side it. A large tree is surrounded by low growing shrubs in fall colors. Colors are blue, grey and white with touches of bright green and pink.. As a child Marjorie took painting lessons one summer with Mrs. Lulu Pratt, and another with Hannah Drury, both of Bristol. One of her earliest watercolors was done in 1897 when she was 13. Another watercolor dates to around 1900 when she was 16 years old. Marjorie's love of painting blossomed in her late 60's after her husband, George Lyon, died. |
