Description |
This is a large black trunk with black leather edge strapping and a black metal center strap around the lid. There are brass clasps, corners, keyhole and rivets and leather end handles. The inside of the trunk is covered in a rose and grey patterned fabric, as is the removable tray. Both ends are marked in red paint: LYON / BOSTON, MASS. On the top of the trunk is a label from Matson Navigation Company, San Francisco.This trunk went to Hawaii with George and Marjorie Lyon in 1917 on the S.S. Matsonia. It can be seen in a photograph of their rented cottage in Hawaii. |
