Large Mattlach #2188 ceramic stein engraved and painted with inscriptions in German, depicting people celebrating. White with burgandy and multicolor pictures. Listed in Sotheby's inventory as "Mettlach transfer-decorated stein / The baluster-form bowl with two scenes of elves drinking beer, lead-rimmed lid." Note that this tankard can be seen in a dining room photo of Blithewold I (1976.1.P036.01.46). |
