Description |
Marjorie Van Wickle purchased this evening coat from Arbus Paillard it Cie in Paris on her 1903/4 Grand Tour. French Battenburg-style tape lace coat or mantle. The three-quarter length, A-line coat is both machine-and hand-stitched. The coat has a shoulder-width, round lace collar which matches the coat outer fabric; sleeves are bell-shaped and terminate in flounces of pleated silk chiffon. Both coat body and sleeves are insulated with wool fabric and fully lined with silk. A black velvet ribbon binds the neckline and also trims the center fronts. Eight hooks and eyes form the closure at center front. |
