Description |
This compote, or tazza, is part of a set of Bohemian red glass, gilt decorated table objects. All are decorated with gold grapes and leaves and have a distinctive base design of diamonds with a center hole in a gold frame. The top edge of the compote is shaped into 12 scallops with a large leaf decorating each scallop. The Blithewold wooden album (circa 1910) describes these pieces: "Portion of a dessert service of Bohemian glass late eighteenth century. The glass is of ruby color, richly decorated with a grapevine pattern in gold. The edges of the pieces are serrated in the Chinese manner." |
