| Description | One of three bottle shaped Chinese oxblood glazed vases in the living room. The two smaller of the three vases appear in the picture of the living room from the Blithewold wooden album (circa 1910). They were placed on the top of the oak side cabinet with 1976.1.4533 in the center, just as they appear currently. Bessie described them separately as follows:"Vase, Chinese porcelain bottle-shaped covered with a glaze known as Sang-de-boeuf." and "Vase. Chinese porcelain, bottle shaped. Sang-de-boeuf glaze. Splashed neck." The third, larger, bottle shaped vase is not listed in the 1915 inventory but was in the living room at the time of the Sotheby's appraisal and the three were appraised as a set. |
