Description |
This is a hand-painted pitcher decorated with colorful flowers and a gold handle and spout. There is also gold around the base and rim and in the comb border. There is a ribbon border at the top of pink and blue and one gold stripe inside the rim. On the side in gold: a seal with two lions. In the garland below the lions: VIR TUTE ET INDUSTRIL. Below the seal in gold script: To Commemorate/ "This crowning deliverance/ from the long and anxious years of danger"/ Winston Churchill/ House of Commons/ Aug. 15, 1945. On the verso: in center: Bristol/ founded (two crossed swords) in 1652/ England. Hand-painted over the makers mark in blue script: Painted specially by/ Cecil Garland N.R.D./ Chief Designer at the / Bristol Pottery/ June 1956 |
