Description |
This hatbox has a dark green background. Within a circle on the lid is an image of lady wearing a bonnet. On the box there are four images of ladies in bonnets carrying flowers. A sticker on the lid reads "Treasures" written in ink; below in pencil "Lyon bonnet" and below that, something illegible. A green cotton twill cord passes through metal grommets and is knotted on the interior to attach to the box. The cord has been cut. Printed in black ink on the bottom of the box: " WILSON / INCORPORATED / 723 Boylston St, Boston " Handwritten in pencil on the bottom of the box: "Mrs. Lyon" Five green feathers were found in the hatbox and may have come from a hat in the collection (2012.1.0012). |
