Description |
Two-toned velvet shoes, maroon toes, pink/mauve back, small rhinestone buckles, and leather soles. 2 3/8" flared heels. The heel on this shoe is referred to as a "flared Louis heel", named after 18th century French King Louis XIV (the ‘Sun King’). It is described as a ‘romantic’ style, and it regained popularity in the late 1800s and continued in use though the 1910s-20s. In today's terms, this heel style might be referred to as a kitten heel. These shoes appear to have been worn with 2024.1.0002, a plumb velvet afternoon dress. Returned to Blithewold in 2024 by The Colonial Dames. |
