Description |
Wood veneer chest of drawers with attached oval mirror. Empire in style, this object has three large bottom drawers with two drawers spanning the recessed top range. Brass drawer pulls are Neoclassical. Marquetry veneer is decorated with tulips, bell flowers, and sunflower motifs. There is a running arrow frieze across the front of the piece. Oval mirror is attached to side arms with large decorative brass screws. This piece of furniture is included in the Blithewold wooden album (circa 1910) in the following description:"Twin beds, highboy, dressing table, couch, bureau, desk, storied table and cheval glass. Dutch eighteenth century. Mahogany with inlay of foliated designs in colored woods. Old Blithewold." |
