Marigold /Sunflower yellow, asymmetrical, fine silk damask evening dress, with silver brocade is floral and bamboo(?) pattern by Fox. Draped around neck fichu effect (black lace netting), with a long and heavy bead tassel in back. Knee-length panels with heavy glass bead tassel at end. Large ornaments on front and back. Worn by Marjorie Van Wickle Lyon at Augustine's wedding June 1919. From Boston Globe Sunday edition in Newspaper Clippings A-053: "...Mrs. Lyon, sister of the bride, was in yellow satin and black lace,..." 5-inch stays center front, back (2), and sides, 5 in all. Empire style bodice with long narrow skirt and short off-center train. Skirt with weighted drapes just below mid skirt. Single piece of black netted lace, gathered at center front waist line, drapes over shoulders to the back, to the floor, weighted with one 8" beaded tassel on each side. Large black beaded brooch at bodice front and back centers (not matching). At center front: 16" beaded 'box' tassel hangs from waistline. Folded ivory tulle at neckline center front and back . |
