Description |
This is a cabin trunk made by Innovation who designed wardrobe style trunks from the early 1900s. An identifying characteristic is the 'bulges' on top and side to avoid stacking. This is a black trunk made of canvas covered wood with black metal strapping along the edges, center and across the front. Strapping is fastened with metal rivets and metal corners. There are two large side hinges on the front and a keyhole lock in the center. It stands on its side with the top having a "bulge". There is a leather handle on the top and M.C.K. Boston is painted below the handle. Also on the top are various partial stickers including one for Holland America and Cabin 130. The inside features are cardboard or light wood covered with yellow linen. On the left side are 6 drawers of graduated size with the top drawer 4.25" high and the bottom drawer 10". The top drawer has a lock. All drawers have leather pulls. On the right side there are three wooden hangars on a wooden rack and, at the bottom, a shoe bag with four partitions. In addition to the manufacturer's tag, the trunk has a tag indicating that it was purchased from R.H. Stearns in Boston. |
