| Description | Vase from Tiffany & Co., sterling silver with inlaid copper and a scalloped top. The copper design goes around the base with double lines continuing to the top. At top the lines end in swirls and bell shaped designs. Linear monogram "MVanW" (Marjorie Van Wickle) engraved on side. This vase was a gift for Marjorie on her wedding day, June 1,1914. It was given to her by Samuel Pomeroy Colt, a neighbor in Bristol RI. On the bottom is an inscription in scripted font, "From / Samuel Pomeroy Colt / 6/1/1914 / " Hand inscribed: "15/50" then stamped in all caps, "TIFFANY & CO / 17973A MAKERS / STERLING SILVER & COPPER INLAY / M" This particular maker's mark was used by Tiffany between 1907 and 1947, under the directorship of John C. Moore. |
