Description |
Watercolor painting titled "Vermont Bridge" by Marjorie Van Wickle Lyon. Painting depicts a fall landscape with a red covered bridge backed by a spectacular yellow foliaged tree as the centerpiece. The hills are in colors of blues, greens and pink. Colors are red, yellow, green, blue and pink. Painting was exhibited at the Copley Society of Boston in 1963. As a child Marjorie took painting lessons one summer with Mrs. Lulu Pratt, and another with Hannah Drury, both of Bristol. One of her earliest watercolors was done in 1897 when she was 13. Another watercolor dates to around 1900 when she was 16 years old. Marjorie's love of painting blossomed in her late 60's after her husband, George Lyon, died. |
