Description |
This rectangular World War I leather map pouch (a) belonged to George Armstrong Lyon. George's initials, GAL, appear under the front flap in gold lettering. This pouch / case has a long leather neck strap with metal buckles. The are small straps on the face of the pouch that have eyelets to receive metal pop fasteners. There are two slots that each hold a pencil (b,c), several other pockets, and a special leather holder holds a magnifying monocle (d). The monocle is inside a small fabric bag (e). A plastic viewing pocket and a fabric flap were likely used to protect and view maps or other documents. |
